Create Your Own YouTube with Fliggo

imageOnline Video seems to have taken the internet by storm. Internet Service Providers (ISP’s) have battled to cope with the demands of the YouTube generation, optimizing their networks to deliver our videos, sometimes with detriment to our Bittorrent downloads.

More and more companies are starting their own video networks, trying to claim back some of the market share that YouTube has grabbed and run away with. Businesses are seeing the potential of advertising their products and services using promotional video but how can they compete if the destination for all these videos is the same service?

This is where Fliggo aims to come in and whisk you of into the sunset, offering the ability to host your own video site, allowing you complete control over what happens to your videos.

How To: Watch Live Premiership Football with TVersity and Sopcast

image In the modern era, sport on television is delivered via a paid subscription model. If you wish to watch the big game, most of the time you will need access to a monthly subscription to be able to watch it (I speak for the UK at least).

Luckily, there are several methods of watching football and other sports via the internet, methods that will reduce the need to pay for the privilege of watching it. Some people swear by watching live streams via uStream and Justin.tv but a far more reliable and useful way of watching is using a P2P client like Sopcast and streaming it live to your TV.

Today, I aim to instruct you how to setup Sopcast to stream via Tversity, thus making it possible to watch live internet sport on your television with no cost to you. This guide takes into account that you are familiar with TVersity, if you aren’t please leave a comment and if enough people request it, I will write a guide for you.

Ustream Makes It To The iPhone Just In Time For Obama’s Inaugural Address

image News hit the internet about a week ago of live video streaming coming to the iPhone in the form of Ustream’s video service. The “Ustream iPhone Viewing Application” was pending approval from Apple, meaning that when approved, iPhone users would be able to download the application from the App Store.

The app was approved today and has got iPhone users rubbing their hands at the opportunity to watch today’s events via their phones.

The app itself allows you to watch and chat with any Ustream show but does require a WIFI connection, the 3G networks just don’t support the kind of speeds needed to stream this service.

PictureThe release comes just at the right time for Ustream as today the world will witness President Obama’s Inauguration, with millions of people logging onto the internet to catch live footage of the ceremony. Allowing iPhone users to tune in to today’s inauguration will show us the real power of today’s technology and will lay the foundation to many other big events.

To the left of this post, you can find a screenshot of the stream that will be covering the address, at the moment you can see US citizens are still probably sleeping.

Next up for Ustream is the development of an application that will allow you to stream live video from your iPhone (owners of jailbroken phones already have the option using Qik). Who knows, you may be able to stream the birth of your baby boy or girl using your iPhone in the near future!

The download link for the Ustream iPhone Viewing Application can be found here.

Make Ringtones From Your Favourite Songs with Audiko

image There aren’t many new media sites that draw me into their service these days but somehow Audiko has changed all that. I was pursuing Stumbleupon when I came upon a site that professed to make phone ringtones from any piece of music you throw at it, even converting YouTube videos.

On their homepage, you are treated to a selection of the top 100 ringtones on the site, recently converted Youtube video’s and most importantly, a search bar. As I navigated through the site, the only problem I came across was trying to rack my brain to think of a song I would actually want for my ringtone!

Rip Your Last.fm Radio Streams with TheLastRipper

Last.fm is seen as the leader behind the revolution in internet music and in my opinion rightly so. They took all the artists, albums and songs and made information on them readily available, as they grew they added music clips, eventually allowing you to add playlists of your favourite music.

What made Last.fm stand out for me was how it linked artists and genre’s to user profiles, allowing the service to accurately suggest music that you may like based on other people’s music playlists.
