Open Links In Different Browsers With Browser Chooser

For years, web designers have had to struggle with code that enables their websites to be rendered properly in different internet browsers. To make sure that each browser is supported, designers have had to download each browser and individually test which ones work. On the other hand, corporate web users may have constrictions on what browsers they can install, sometimes they may want to open a link in a different browser depending on if the link is either personal or professional.

Browser Chooser is a small tool that allows you to open a particular link in the chosen browser you wish to either test or browse websites with.

How To: Get The Most Out Of Stumbleupon Using Google Chrome

Google Chrome, one of the newest players in the browser market, has seen a progressive rise in it’s usage throughout the year, really since it’s release. Many coders who had previously embraced open platforms and created extensions for browsers like Mozilla Firefox have started to flex their programming skills for a different browser with the addition of a extension platform within Google Chrome.

That said, some of the better extensions available for the Firefox browser have yet to be ported over to it’s newest competitor. Chrome users are crying out for extensions such as the Web Developer Addon, Adblock (although there is a prototype available in the form of Adsweep) and also the Stumbleupon Toolbar. The Stumbleupon Toolbar is a massive tool for online marketers and social news submitters, some will simply not use Chrome until a toolbar is developed for it.

We recognise that there isn’t a toolbar just yet but it is still very easy to get your Stumbleupon fix. You can still browse, submit and share Stumbles without the addon and we will show you how.

How To: Recover Your Missing Bookmark Toolbar In Mozilla Firefox

I have been using various extensions inside my Mozilla Firefox browser to help with my enormous collection of bookmarks, using Xmarks to sync my favourites and passwords between my home and work PC and also using Delicious Toolbar so I can access my bookmarks when I am unable to use a Firefox browser.

Until yesterday I didn’t have any problems with these bookmarks, until I installed an update to Xmarks. Click To Continue

Definr Is A Fast Free Dictionary

As schools and business look to move their work towards a more electronic way of life, sometimes spelling and grammar can be pushed to the back of the checklist when submitting a piece of work. Going back ten years, every ofice or student would have access to a paperback dictionary but we now have to ask ourselves, what do we use now? Can we even find where it is now?

Whilst there are plenty of dictionary websites, none are quite so simple and fast as Definr, a Ruby-on-Rails powered website created by Christian von Kleist.

How To: Use GTalk From Your Firefox Sidebar

Google’s services are everywhere and encompass all. I have been making use of Google’s instant messaging platform more and more lately, but have never actually gotten around to installing the application itself. A lot of my duties both at home and at work require a lot of browser use, so what better way of using the GTalk service from within your Firefox browser?

This trick takes advantage of the Google Talk Gadget, a flash based browser iteration that mimics almost exactly, the features of it’s desktop counterpart.

Foxmarks: My New Best Friend

Foxmarks is an add-on for Firefox that syncs your bookmarks and passwords from any computer that can run Firefox. It’s extremely popular (with over 11 million downloads), but I never gave it a try until last week.

Man, I didn’t know what I was missing. What a simple, effective tool this is. Not only was I able to sync from the couple Windows PCs that I use, I was also able to sync them up in Linux. Before, when I went from one Pc to another, or booted into Linux, it was hard to keep track of my passwords and bookmarks. Now, I can hop between them at will and my bookmarks and passwords are all the same.

You can pick up Foxmarks here. If you ever use more than one computer, I highly recommend you do so.

Bypass Registration Sites With BugMeNot

Sites that require you to register to view their content are fewer these days but there are still some popular portals that require authentication. There is a service that allows you to get login credentials for these sites; BugMeNot.

BugMeNot isn’t a new site but it’s usefulness has always kept it in my favourites. To use it, simply head over to BugMeNot.com and enter the URL for the site you wish to access. Most of the time, you will be able to find the site but if you are unable to, you can add your own if you were forced to register (if you do this, use a bogus name and password that doesn’t compromise the details you would normally use).
