Over the last couple of days you may have noticed an inconspicuous toolbar located at the bottom of every article on WillINeedIt. This toolbar is provided by the pioneering web based instant messaging company Meebo and will offer the functionality to log into your favourite instant messaging services anywhere on the site!
Not only will you be able to chat with friends on a multitude of different networks, you will be able to share images, videos and the pages themselves on Facebook, Twitter and Email as you browse the website using the impressive “Drag To Share” function. To take advantage of this, simply hover over the content you wish to share and you will be asked to drag the snippet to the location of your choice (shown in the screenshot below).
Users can also share content with their friends as they chat, again by dragging the specified image or video into the dialog box of the person you are chatting with.
On the far left of the toolbar is the option to share the website instead of particular parts of it. To take advantage of this, click the “Share Page” button (shown below).

IRC (Internet Relay Chat), was very popular around 10 years ago, around the age of dial-up internet but continues to be popular today. If you are new to IRC, think of it as a mass chatroom, where anybody can join a selected “channel”, unless it has been made private to selected users. If you’re at school, or work trying to access your favorite IRC server, chances are that the ports used for IRC communication have been blocked.
Mibbit, is a fully functional online IRC client that you can use with just your browser. Though it may be hard to use at first, it gets easier once you familiarise yourself with the service and the commands used.
Connecting via the internet is a very natural thing to do. The medium has paved the way for couples meeting online, marrying and having babies, allowed people to organise public meetups and events and allows users from opposite ends of the earth to connect and communicate.
The problem with the sheer number of people connecting on the internet is that there are just so many tools and services to connect via. Sometimes there is a requirement to get multiple people together using a single service that everyone can use regardless of Operating System or computer type. One such service that can fill this void is TinyChat, a service that acts as a temporary yet powerful chat room, serving text based chat aswell as video conferencing, it requires no third party software and runs effortlessly in your browser.
Social networking, love it or hate it, has made it’s way into the big time. With technology evolving to keep people better connected, it’s the social networking services that are the tools that enable this to happened.

Anything that can function by simply using your voice has always been something that appeals to me. Inside my car, I own a Parrot hand-free device that allows you to speak to people on the phone without taking your eyes or hands off of the road.

Some allow communication, some redefine communication boundaries and some are just outright fun. Today I wish to share 10 different tools and applications that revolve around your voice and can hopefully add some extra functionality to your existing practises.

Do you ever have days where you are online, surfing the web and run out of things to do? You kind of sit for a while pondering the meaning of life whilst you are sat there bored out of your mind…well there is a new and surprisingly entertaining website that i have stumbled across that really is quite amusing.
Launching on just the 25th March 2009 there are currently over 4359 users online at any one time; leading it to be dubbed to new ‘secret’ style Facebook.

I have been a long time fan of Pidgin, using it on both my Windows and Linux systems. More recently I made the switch to Digsby, famed for it’s built in social network support and ability to handle emails, but after a couple of months using the application, I started getting weary of the increased memory and CPU usage, as well as the long load times.
So I came back to Pidgin. It loaded quicker, it supported more networks than before but it didn’t support one network I had become used to using more and more; Facebook Chat. Luckily for me, a quick Google search revealed a way to get Facebook Chat on my system.
