I have the greatest of pleasures to introduce a new writer to the blog; Katie. Katie is not only a talented writer, published poet and all-round good egg, she is also my wife. Please leave a comment should you like her post, it may encourage her to post more!
Sometimes when working on tasks where screenshots are required it can become a bit of a drag having to press the usual screen shot buttons, opening word, copying and pasting etc etc. So when asked to review RumShot I was certainly intrigued.
First impressions of RumShot were slightly mixed due to initially slightly being confused on how it operated, however once my blond moment had surpassed I was pleasantly surprised. I have been in situations previously where I have been multi tasking (the wonderful by-product of being female) and could really have benefited from knowing of this application sooner. There have been times when I have been chatting on MSN, browsing the net and doing work which has required screen shots; but have been quite reluctant to do so as I would have had to have closed everything ‘inappropriate’ down, edited the shot in paint and so forth.
Using this application means I could be carrying out 1001 tasks and be able to pin point the exact area that I need a shot of. There is no need for editing, fifing around to find it’s stored location or anything that requires more than a little effort.
When opening RumShot an attractive rectangular box appears and is ready for action, with an incredibly simple “Take Screenshot“ function. You move the ‘window’ to the area that you want a shot of and literally click ‘take screenshot’, et voila! Once you are happy with the preview shown simply click ‘save screenshot’ and it will be automatically saved in the folder ‘RumShot Screenshots’ (which can be easily located in My Documents) along with a full screenshot of the screen at that time.
I can think of many instances where this app would come in handy, for both business and pleasure. It would come incredibly useful for when wanting to take snippets of certain pictures or documents in which there is no need for a screenshot in it’s entirety, or perhaps where privacy is required because of other applications/windows being open. It would be ideal for taking snap shots of ID usernames and passwords, transaction id’s or receipt details so that all information that may be needed in the future is readily available in an easy accessible folder.
Overall I am very impressed by this application, everything about it is pleasant to the eye as well as being easy to use even for novices and those new to using computers and the internet. I can see it being an application that is actually used as opposed to just sitting on my desk top gathering dust. I would highly commend Rumshot and absolutely recommend its download!
