In the early days there was WinZip. As I progressed in my computer related life I progressed to using WinRAR for all my file compression needs. One problem that came with WinRAR and WinZip was that although you could continue to use the program past it’s trial period, you were still left to deal with a nag popup every time you used the program.

The program can be tweaked to allow your virus scanner to sweep archives before execution to check for threats and can also secure your data using 256-bit AES encryption.
