Twootball: Connecting Twitter To The NFL

Twitter’s popularity has exploded over the last year with people finding new and impressive ways to use the service. Just a couple of months back, it was one of the main sources of information and opinion on the upcoming US Elections. However, one application I haven’t seen it employed as much is in professional sport.

Twootball is a service that allows NFL fans to comment and give their opinions on upcoming NFL fixtures, acting as a live Twitter conversation on NFL teams, games and news.

To get involved, all the user has to do is reference the team he/she wants the Tweet to show up on. For example, if you wish to comment on the Jets game, simply reference #jets and it will show on the team page and the front page. Other users will be able to see your tweet and comment immediately.

More recently, Twootball has released a native iPhone app for it’s service which has received mixed reviews. The app streamlines the web interface and allows mobile Twootball tweets. Complaints have been raised about it’s inability to retweet and reply to other users.
