Ask500People: Find Out What People Think

Survey’s, polls, questionnaires, it can be difficult getting a response on a large scale. Ask500People.com is touted as an application of James Surowiecki’s best selling book “The Wisdom of Crowds”, where “diverse, decentralized people voting independently are better at predicting future events or trends than individuals, small groups or even domain experts.”

Using the site is quite easy, most of the interaction is done their main page. One of the hottest questions at that time will be displayed at the top along with a Google Map displaying where in the world the people who have voted are from.

Users are awarded points for voting, encouraging user interaction and obviously giving a higher probability that you will receive answers. Users are encouraged to add comments also, adding a more social feel to things.

Ask500People does have a Business section that companies can get an instant reaction to something like their new logo, pricing scheme or website layout. This is a paid option but allows companies to test it for free for a limited time.

So, if you are just wanting to ask the meaning of life or you are a student who needs answers for your latest piece of coursework, Ask500People could help you get the opinions you need.
