Bypass Registration Sites With BugMeNot

Sites that require you to register to view their content are fewer these days but there are still some popular portals that require authentication. There is a service that allows you to get login credentials for these sites; BugMeNot.

BugMeNot isn’t a new site but it’s usefulness has always kept it in my favourites. To use it, simply head over to BugMeNot.com and enter the URL for the site you wish to access. Most of the time, you will be able to find the site but if you are unable to, you can add your own if you were forced to register (if you do this, use a bogus name and password that doesn’t compromise the details you would normally use).

To illustrate, take NYTimes.com as a working example. Once the URL is entered, you will be presented with a list of usernames and passwords and a success ratio of how many people used it and were able to gain access to the site.

The courteous thing to do is to select whether the login worked out for you so you can alert other users if the username and password.

Perhaps the best use of this service is to take advantage of the BugMeNot Firefox Addon.

With this installed, all you need to do is right click on the Login Form you wish to enter credentials in and it will check the BugMeNot database and then log you in automatically.

BugMeNot is a service you should always keep in mind, it’s usefulness and it’s simplicity can really help you out of tough spots when searching registration type sites.
